The Fate of Natural Organic Skincare in the Recession

We’ve all heard the scaremongers talking about the recession, and we’ve all heard talk of the downturn, of job loss, the credit crunch, and of tightening the ol’ purse strings.

It has been reported recently that in such times, spending on beauty products rises; lipstick, for example, outstripped its quartlerly performances for recent years in the period over Christmas. It seems that, when times are tough, people like to put a brave face on it.

So spending in the beauty industry goes up. the same, of course, applies to natural organic skincare,  which in itself has seen a rise within the rise, over recent years. Spending in that area has naturally gone up, and it seems that the recession and the downturn doesn’t affect sales of natural organic skincare; when people make their cut backs, and when people reign in their spending and redraw their budgets, beauty products just aren’t involved in budget cuts.

They’re here to stay. And so are natural organic skincare products, the steady rise being marked by a number of small dedicated boutiques and websites having sprung up to deal with increasing demand in recent years.

Scin Boutique, which opened in 2005 in Notting hill, is one such example. And the little Scin spa and Boutique has become something of a hit, with Times Online reporting that,

“Located in achingly hip Notting Hill, just around the corner from Portobello Road, Scin combines boutique charm with the practical philosophy of providing simple, quality treatments that work. Bespoke facials and specially designed massage are just a taste of what you can expect.”

It is indeed a ringing endorsement for the natural organic skincare movement, and for the boutique in particular, whose approach to natural organic skincare has been matched by a no-nonsense approach to the industry:

“Anna and Nicky call Scin Spa a gimmick free London Massage and Beauty Spa. You won’t find any wine, chocolate or other such substances posing as treatment consumables in the name of being different. Its all about quality Natural Skincare Products, well trained therapists and a modern comfortable environment for everyone.”

There’s something about this mixture of natural organic skincare and purity that makes Scin boutique one of the perfect recession period spas around; people, even in a downturn, will not step spending on beauty, but there is a sense of guiltiness that an extravagant boutique could amplify. But the stripped down, treatment-heavy nature of the Scin Boutique negates that; it provides people with the services they need, without the hassle of extra interests.

So, with spending actually rising in the organic sector, the Scin boutique might just be one of those places to indulge the beauty habit without worrying too much about recessionary extravagance.

So take a look!
